The Declaration of Arbroath

Today was a wee trip down to Arbroath to see some of the ruins of the abbey. Fist time I can remember being there but I’m sure I more than likely visited it as a child.
It does have a nice wee visitor centre, parts of the ruins still have rooms that can be entered and the bases of the original pillars are still in the ground which help give a sense of the size of the structure.

Jenny Batter’s Hole

The above room was used in the 1700’s to house the lunatics of Arbroath or at least the people that had been declared lunatics. It takes its name from the last occupant.
